Porous asphalt—as the name suggests—was invented to counter the dangerous aquaplaning effect, ensuring the highest possible grip even during heavy rainfall or adverse weather conditions. It is characterized by an extremely high level of porosity, made possible by its composition: a mixture of gravel and sand that, through a specific mixing process, creates voids (known as “pores“) which define its properties.
Among the other advantages of porous asphalt, it is worth highlighting a lifecycle that is 30% longer than other types of asphalt, offering excellent value for money. Furthermore, thanks to its sound-absorbing properties, porous asphalt allows for a reduction in traffic noise. Finally, its particularly dark color reduces headlight glare, thereby increasing safety for road users.

Starting with BG-FILCOTEN® ONE, monolithic channels also available as self-supporting Type I, made from the most innovative material on the market: BG-FILCOTEN HPC (High Performance Concrete).
BIG47 I are self-supporting Type I channels made of high-performance concrete. They are equipped with cast iron profiles to best resist corrosion over time. The Z-shaped cast iron profiles, perfectly anchored to the concrete body, provide compactness and protection against wear caused by traffic.
The SMART PRO range—high-performance concrete channels also suitable for road use—is also perfectly suited for installation with porous asphalt, especially due to the wide availability of widths and heights, ease of installation, and excellent long-term performance.
